Prologue

It all starts with a wedding.  Which is a very good place to start.

Specifically, our youngest son Yoav was getting married in Guadalajara, Mexico in May, so if we were going to come all the way from Israel to Central West Mexico, we may as well explore somewhere else. Belize seemed to tick all the boxes; compact enough to easily get around, jungles, Mayan ruins and the second largest coral reef in the world.  Add the unique Garifuna people and culture to the checklist and we expected a fascinating and different ten-day holiday. The fact that it is the only English-speaking country in mainland Central America was an added bonus.

We discovered over the ten days that it did far more than just tick all the boxes. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
